November brings cooler weather to Maui, more festivals, and local persimmons (pictured above).

Sunday, November 1 – Saturday, November 7. Restaurant Week in Wailea.  Dine out in style at Wailea restaurants, which offer a 3 course prix fixe meal at different price levels. Benefits the Maui Food Bank. Wailea.

Sunday, November 1, 5:30 pm. Day of the Dead Party – Fundraiser for Imua Family Services. Continue celebrating Halloween for one more day. Costume contest, live flamenco dancing. Sangrita Grill, Ka’anapali.


Sunday, November 1, 7 pm. Day of the Dead Sound Healing. Post Halloween Sacred Sound Ceremony. Lumeria Retreat, Makawao. $11 - $22.

Sunday, November 1, all day, XTERRA World Championship. An elite off-road triathlon for professional and amateur athletes. Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Kapalua.

Tuesday, November 3, 8 pm – 9:30 pm. Maui Aikido – free class for adults and teens. Hannibal Tavarez Community Center (upstairs), Pukalani.  


Friday, November 6. Shopper’s Preview - Made in Maui County Festival. For serious shoppers a day before the festival opens to the general public. MACC, Wailuku. $35.  

Friday, November 6 – Sunday, November 8. Earth Skills Camp. Fun for all ages, learning wilderness skills, stargazing, storytelling, building fires, wild harvesting, and traditional imu celebration. $240/adults, $50/children, kama’aina rates available.  



Saturday, November 7, 8 am – 4:30 pm. Made in Maui County Festival. MACC, Wailuku. Support locally made products here on Maui. $5 at the gate. 



Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, various times. Maui Bird Conservation Center’s Open House (not to be confused with Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project). Makawao. Call 808-572-0690, current tour times are 8 am, 10 am, noon, 2 pm. Space is limited and tours fill up. FREE !

Saturday, November 7, 8:30 am – 10:45 AM.  Ride/Bike along Hansen Road before it reopens. Post- Halloween costumes encouraged.

Saturday, November 7, 9 am – noon. Arbor Day, 1000 Tree Giveaway. Bring a free Hawaiian tree home with you and learn to weave lauhala, make lei, and enjoy other activities.  Maui Nui Botanical Gardens, Kahului.

Sunday, November 8, 11 am – 2 pm. 4th Annual Maui Special Rodeo. This event is dedicated to giving special needs children the fun of a rodeo in a safe environment. Haku Baldwin Center, Makawao.

Sunday, November 8, 3 pm. Heritage Film Festival: The Hawaiian Room. Watch a film about the singers, dancers and musicians from Hawaii who performed in the heart of New York City. Q & A session afterwards. MACC, Wailuku. $12.

Tuesday, November 10, all day. Dine Out for Hospice Maui. Dine at any of the 35 participating restaurants to help fund Hospice Maui.

Friday, November 13 – Saturday, November 14, 1 pm – 7 pm. Sun Yat-Sen Festival. Lahaina honors Sun Yat-Sen with a lion dance, martial arts demo, fan dance, educational displays, lecture, Chinese food, and free museum admission. Wo Hing Museum, Lahaina. FREE! 

Friday, November 13 – Sunday, November 15. HFUU (Hawaii Farmers Union United) State Convention. For anyone interested in local agriculture, food security, and sustainable farming. Cost: varies. Maui Tropical Plantation, Wailuku  



Friday, November 13, 3 pm – 6 pm. Wild Food Workshop. Forage for wild foods in Haiku, learn to prepare them with Sunny Savage. Meet at Baked on Maui, Haiku. $30.

Saturday, November 21, 10 am – 4 pm. 7th Annual Hana Limu Festival. This festival celebrates the ecological and cultural value of limu (Hawaiian seaweed). With hands on activities, silent auction, crafts, food, and entertainment. Hana Bay, Hana.

Tuesday, November 24, 9 am – 2 pm. Na Mele O Maui. Maui’s only county wide Hawaiian song and art competition. MACC, Wailuku. FREE!

Friday, November 27, Jamie Gallo CD Release Party. Mulligans On The Blue, Wailea. $20/includes cd.

NEW Saturday, November 28, 10 am – 10 pm. La Ku 'oko'a Lahaina 2015, Hawaiian Independence Day Celebration. This was the day in 1843 that France and Great Britain recognized the independence of the kingdom of Hawaii. Crafters, music, education. Hanakao'o Beach Park, Lahaina. FREE.

Labyrinth walks, on or near the full moon each month and on Thursday afternoons at the Sacred Garden of Maui, Makawao.

Hawaii Farmers Union public potluck meetings – held on the 3rd Thursday of the month, usually at the Maui Tropical Plantation and the 4th Tuesday of the month at Haiku Community Center. More info at HFUU Haleakala, closer to the day of the meeeting.
