Zip for the Trees Zipline

Ziplines are fun and popular on Maui. What started out as one zipline company has now become at least five, with new locations and rides added each year.

If you’ve got a free day, head up to Kula today and Zip for the Trees. It’s a fundraiser for East Maui Watershed Partnership, Hawaiian Islands Land Trust, Nature Conservancy and other worthwhile groups. The tour is $30 for 3 ziplines, woo hoo! All the proceeds go to the participating nonprofits.

Tours start at 8:30 am and run till 4 pm, every half hour, with 12 people per tour. No reservations needed. It's first come, first serve.

For more info, visit Skyline's website.

This is a local style video of zipline #5 (not sure this ride is included in the 3 zipline special today), but I enjoyed watching it because it has some local flavor.

And there were tons of other things to do today, all ecologically related: Maui Nui Botanical Garden was giving away 1000 trees for Arbor Day, Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project was holding an open house with bird tours, and the Maui Association of Landscape Professionals had their annual garden and lawn event at the Maui Mall. All today. Nuts. Must be Arbor Day. And... if you're into yoga, there's a 3 day yoga festival
