It's early October now, and the mangoes are getting rarer, although at higher elevations like in Kula, some trees are still producing. Local mangoes are so much better than the ones in the grocery store, shipped from Mexico or some other far away place.
Here's a few pictures of what mango trees look like, from a distance, and close up.
Mangoes way up top, like little red ovals
Curly mango leaves
I really like knowing where the mango trees are in my neighborhood and when I'm driving around. That tree that may not be fruiting now may be fruiting next summer, and if it's a tree on the side of the road rather than in someone's back yard, then hmmm... maybe I will bring a bag with me and look for fresh fallen mangoes. Yum.
